There is surely a question as to why, nearly 200 years later, there is any need for a Waitangi tribunal at all? Or at least, perhaps legislation that results in ongoing claims requiring retention of the tribunal should itself be wound back. There is something very wrong with a situation where as time goes by changes in circumstances, asset values etc should be permitted to lead to new claims.
